There are many ways of folding crepes. Learn the most popular ways!
#1 Roll them up! (crepe roll-ups)
This works great for sweet and savory crepes. Here’s how to do it:
- place the crepe on a plate with the best side facing down
- spread your filling in a thin layer all over the crepe
- roll it up from the left to the right side
#2 Fold over
This is great for small crepes or if your filling is chunky. Here’s how to do it:
- place the crepe on a plate with the best side facing down
- spoon some of the filling in the middle of the crepe, from top to bottom
- fold the left and right sides towards the middle, the folds should overlap slightly
#3 Fold them into triangles
Triangles taste better? could be! I like to fold sweet crepes into triangles. Here’s how to do it:
- place the crepe on a plate with the best side facing down
- spread your filling in a thin layer all over the crepe
- fold the crepe in half, then again in half
#4 Small triangles
This fold is similar to the triangular fold shown above. It’s great for sweet crepes. Here’s how to do it:
- place the crepe on a plate with the best side facing down
- spread your filling in a thin layer all over the crepe
- fold the crepe in half
- fold over the top edge of the crepe to make a 3-inch (8cm) wide triangle, repeat this two times more
#5 Pocket fold
This fold makes great portable crepes that are easy to take in a hand and are also great for lunchboxes. Here’s how to do it:
- place the crepe on a plate with the best side facing down
- spoon your filling in the middle of the crepe
- fold the left and right sides towards the middle, the folds should overlap slightly
- now fold the upper and bottom sides towards the middle, creating a square 'pocket’
- I would recommend pan-frying it so that the fillind won’t come out
#6 Roll them up like a burrito
It’s a great way of creating portable crepes (the filling can’t come out), so they’re great for lunch boxes. Here’s how to do it:
- place the crepe on a plate with the best side facing down
- place the filling in the middle of the crepe or spread it in a thin layer all over the crepe
- fold the upper and bottom sides of the crepe into the middle and then roll it up from the left to the right side
#7 Square overlapping fold
This fold is great for savory crepes, especially for crepes filled with eggs. Here’s how to do it:
- place the crepe on a plate with the best side facing down
- spread the filling in a thin layer in the middle of the crepe or place your filling ingredients on top of the crepe, leaving about 2-inches (5 cm) of border around the edges.
- fold the unfilled edge towards the middle, now go around the crepe and fold towards the middle 3 more times, creating an overlap with each fold
