This Christmas bark recipe is a fun idea for a no-bake Christmas dessert! It’s so easy and quick to make with just 5 ingredients. Your kids will go crazy over this simple treat. I mean, how cute is this Reindeer chocolate bark ?!
Ingredients
Here’s what you need to prepare this tasty treat:
- White chocolate – I especially recommend baking chocolate – it’s already tempered which means it will look prettier for a longer period of time. This will be the base of the bark.
- Bittersweet chocolate (same as above) – for reindeer’s faces.
- Mini pretzels – for reindeer’s antlers.
- Candy eyes.
- Red candy for the noses (I used these smarties mini candy).
You could also add any other candy to the bark, for example, Christmas-colored m&m’s or crushed candy canes.
Step by step instructions
STEP 1: Melt the chocolate using a double boiler method (shown) or in a microwave.
Double boiler method: add chopped white chocolate into a heat-proof bowl (metal or ceramic). Pour boiling water into a medium pot. Place the bowl on top of the pot. The bowl shouldn’t touch the surface of the water. Cook over the lowest heat, stirring the chocolate from time to time until it is almost completely melted. Take the bowl off the pot and stir the chocolate with a spoon until it’s completely melted.
In a microwave: microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds then take the bowl out and give it a stir. Place the bowl back in the microwave and repeat the process of cooking for 30 seconds, stopping, stirring, and returning to the microwave until the chocolate has melted.
Repeat the steps for bittersweet chocolate (in a separate bowl).
STEP 2: Pour the melted white chocolate on a baking sheet lined with a piece of parchment paper.
STEP 3: Spread it with a spoon into a rectangle or square shape.
STEP 4: Spoon dollops of melted bittersweet chocolate on top resembling reindeer’s faces.
STEP 5: Cut pretzels in half (or break them) and arrange them in pairs slightly apart as antlers.
STEP 6: Under the antlers place two candy eyes and one red candy as a nose.
Place in the refrigerator to set (about 1 hour).
Remove from the fridge and break into smaller pieces.
Enjoy!
Storage
Don’t leave them for too long at room temperature, they will become too soft.
They keep quite well in the fridge. Store them in a closed container for up to 4-5 days.
